Can Your Xbox Series S Run GTA 6? Yes, and It Costs the Same $79.99

Updated 2026-10-16

GTA 6 is confirmed to launch on Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X on 19 November 2026. The Standard Edition costs $79.99, while the Ultimate Edition is $99.99. Rockstar has not announced any plan for GTA 6 to be on Xbox Game Pass at launch.

This page covers what is officially known and what is still unclear for Xbox players. Details like performance differences between the Series X and Series S are not published. Once the game is out, this page will be updated with the full list of features and specs.

Release date, price and pre-orders

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has publicly reaffirmed the GTA 6 release date of 19 November 2026, stating there will be no further delay. Pre-orders opened on 25 June 2026.

The Standard Edition price is $79.99 USD. The Ultimate Edition price is $99.99 USD. Kotaku reports that the Grand Theft Auto VI: The Goodtime State, Vice City Collection collector's box costs $400 on Rockstar's store.

A pre-order bonus called the Vintage Vice City Pack is confirmed. It includes the two-tone '55 Vapid Stanier sedan, the Shore Court personal garage near Ocean Beach, outfits for protagonists Jason and Lucia, and a tropical weapon pattern.

Platforms and what is not confirmed for Xbox

GTA 6 is officially confirmed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. Rockstar's marketing states it "Plays Best On PlayStation 5." No versions for older consoles like Xbox One or PS4 are planned.

Several key details for Xbox players are not announced. Rockstar has not detailed performance or resolution differences between the Xbox Series X and Series S. The recommended free space is reported to be around 250GB, but this is not an official Rockstar figure.

Rockstar has also confirmed that boxed copies contain a download code, and outlets report there will be no Blu-ray game disc at launch. The online mode for GTA 6, its launch timing, and any Day One global unlock schedule have not been confirmed.

GTA 6 and Xbox Game Pass

There is no announcement that GTA 6 will be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch, or at any point after. Rockstar has not commented on any subscription service plans for the game.

GTA V has appeared on Game Pass before, but that tells us nothing about GTA 6. A free month of GTA+ comes as a bonus with digital pre-orders, but GTA+ is a separate Rockstar subscription for GTA Online, not Xbox Game Pass.
